Jose's family has owned and managed vineyards in Bierzo for generations. After spending his formative years in the restaurants of Barcelona, Jose returned to the family farm in Valtuille de Abajo to rebuild and revitalize the vineyards. The roughly 22 hectares of holdings contain old vines that go as far back as 200 years.
Also a former student of Raul Perez, Jose's winemaking takes a minimal intervention approach. Manual vineyard work, organic farming, spontaneous fermentations on indigenous yeasts, and the minimal use of new oak produces wines of freshness and distinction.
