Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 2020
WINE TYPE: Red
VARIETAL: Pinot Noir
The term “vieille vignes” (‘old vine’) means different things to different people, but Jean-Marie Fourrier’s vineyards in Gevrey would certainly meet anyone’s age requirements. Grapes come from the Champerrier vineyard on the northern end of Gevrey and were planted between 1928 and 1955. This vineyard consistently produces wines of more backbone and tannic structure.
While the Domaine spans four generations, Jean-Marie Fourrier began to revitalize production in 1994, and has since turned it into one of Burgundy’s most sought-after labels. The wines are in such demand that most US restaurants and retailers receive allocations in eyedropper quantities.
